Corgate Estate Flooding

Wed, 03/23/2022 - 00:00 -- chantal

After the devastating flooding on March 11, Hunt, Deltel stepped in to help those in need.

Some areas of Mahe on 11 March 2022 were flooded due to clogged drains and waterways when a tropical depression reached Seychelles. The water impacted fourteen homes in the Corgate estate.

In the presence of Minister Hoareau, the district administrator for Mont Fleuri, Steve Noel, and the principal secretary for local government and community affairs, Kevin Perrine, Hunt Deltel's General Manager, Ronny Matatiken, formally presented SCR 25,000 in STC vouchers to the victims.

Local Government and Community Affairs Minister Rose-Marie Hoareau said, "It is in time of need that we see the true spirit of giving and lending a hand.” She said that many people had come forward to help in the wake of the flooding, whether through donations of goods or services or people stepping in to help with damage control.

GM Matatiken, speaking on behalf of Hunt Deltel, expressed their humbleness with being able to help in this crisis. The GM emphasised that the action was in keeping with the company's policy and culture of giving back to the community whenever needed. Mr Noel, the district administrator, made the necessary connections after the incident to get the donation.
